Script For Narration

Script

We decided to add some narration to the end of our film opening to add some context to the opening. We did a short narration from the perspective of a young football fanatic.

"On the 30th July 1966,
96,924 went and watched England win the world cup,
a day my nation stood strong.
But the road to Wembley started way before 1966

 for a young George Cohen."

Character Costumes

Character Costumes
The characters in our film are:
Elderly Man. This character plays the character that we are basing the film on in the present time. He is in casual normal clothes walking through a park in England.
Young footballer. These characters will be in a football kit all the same showing a team. Also the character that is playing the elderly man that is now younger will be wearing the same numbered shirt as the older character did. Also when the scene change and cut to the changing room this character will be shown first to symbolise this is him. We tried to get a kit as same as the kits were in the 1960s so it showed the flash back well enough. as shown in the two photos. the one on the left is a 1960s football kit and the photo on the right is the kit we used. We changed it to black and white so it looked older and that was the cameras used then. The kits were yellow and black still if we had decided not to use the black and white effect.
Rest of the football team around 17 years of age. These will be wearing the same kit as the character are basin git on.

Fonts and Film Name

Fonts for Titles and Film Name Research

We decided to use a subtle white font for the titles in our film. We used the titles in Saving Private Ryan and Forrest Gump as a base for this as these films of both biographical dramas. We also looked at the film Goal II but the font was too bold and bright and didn't match our genre well.

Coming up with a Film Name took a lot of thought. We came up with a few, the first was 'Cohen the Lion' this was because our characters name was Cohen and he played for England and obviously the England badge has three lions on it. However, when we told our classmates about the name they didn't understand the link between the lion and the England football team so we scrapped that name. The second name we had was 'Replay' this one worked better as it was clearly justifiable from our film opening of an old man looking back at his life. However, we felt that this name didn't match our genre very well, it seemed too Sci-Fi in our opinion. The last and official name for our film was simply 'Cohen' the name of our playing. Influenced for this name came from other sport films such as 'Best', 'Rudy' and 'Rocky' which is why it worked for our film.

Poster

Poster
This is our film poster. It has the same number and name of the person we are basing it on. This is also our film title. We added a short quote to make people want to look into the poster and want to go see the film. Across the top are some of the actors in the film opening.

Sounds in Film

Sounds in Film

This lesson we looked into more detail the sound that you find within films. Even though previously we only learnt about the main two of diegetic and non-diegetic sound, today we looked into more depth about the types of sound you hear within these two categories.

Synchronous Sound-This is where the sounds heard in the scene matches the image being viewed. E.g. we will have studs on a hard floor and you will see the character walking.

Asynchronous Sound-This is where the image on the screen doesn't actually show the thing that is making the noise. E.g. We will have birds in the background of the park scene.

Ambient Sound-This is the background sounds that help establish a location, these sounds together create a soundscape. E.g. in the changing room scene we will have Studs and Velcro off the shin pads but will be in the background and off camera.

Sound Bridge-This is when sound from one scene can help lead in and out of another, so acts as a transition. E.g. Background music blending into an alarm clock going off.

Voice Over-This when you add someone talking on top of a scene, but the characters can't normally hear them. They are normally saying the narration of the story or they are saying whatever the character is thinking.

Marketing

Marketing
For marketing we thought we would advertise on social media as our age range will use these apps and websites the most. This will be the most effective way and attract the biggest audience we could get. People can then share this with there mates and show it to there friends and family to get the film out there. We could post the poster of the film onto Instagram so it is there on their phone instead of having to be out and looking for it. We could add more effect to the photo making it really good quality so it will be attractive more and more customers. This would make it really pop and stand out from the other films. We can also put our opening scene or trailer on youtube to get people engaged to the film and give them little insights to what is going to happen. This will get people showing each other and get the film about to a lot of people. We will get posters put up outside film centres and also shopping malls so many people can see the film poster. A lot of the audience we are targeting go to films usually and go to shopping centres.

Similar Films

Similar Films

We have to look at films of a similar genre and films with a similar opening to us.
One film that is similar to both our genre and our opening is Saving Private Ryan.

They have similar shots of the elderly man walking through the park. Also the music is similar to what we will use. It replicates our genre and creates a feeling of emotion and meaning to the viewer.

Our group will take different shots from this as they have a very similar scene to what we want. Also we will want to carry the emotion through into our film opening.

Another similar film is Forrest Gump. This film is similar as it is of a similar genre. It has emotional music that sets the mood for the first scene. We will take some ideas from the sound of this film as it correctly shows the genre and different objects match the sound.

Finally, our final similar film is the Goal series. They are similar because of the genre is Sport. Also they follow one individuals career and personal struggles.
